An Overview of Connections

Cable Connections in air ‘Topside” can be made with Glands. Although they often claim a rated water depth this is completely reliant on the integrity of the cable jacket. If the cable jacket is damaged the whole system is compromised. Also when using a gland it is not possible to vacuum test the housing.

We always recommend Sub-Sea connectors, they are pluggable and provide a water blocked connection. This allows the housing to be vacuum tested and isolates the cable from the enclosure as far as leaks are concerned.
