Sea Chest for Extreme Temperatures

On this occasion the Sea Chest were used to house the sensitive equipment searching for mines underwater. The requirements and their solutions were as follows;

  • A non metallic housing for submersion up to 70 meters – The Sea Chest
  • Heat dissipation from components inside the enclosure – The equipment was mounted on a large aluminium plug to conduct the heat through the base of the enclosure.
  • Temperatures ranging from +50 to -40 centigrade – This required practical testing of the Rigid Polyurethane and allowances made for the various materials and their different rates of thermal expansion.
  • A lead time of just two weeks – A time when it is important to be organised and make sure everything comes together on time.

A good outcome and we are now in the process of supplying spare housings for this project.
